Blakwise is a community-based organization that works to promote the health and well-being of First Nations people in our community. One of our main areas of focus is education and well-being for First Nations youth. We believe that by investing in the next generation, we can create a brighter future for all First Nations people.

Our organization relies on the support of donors and grants to provide vital services to First Nations people in our community. With this funding, we will be able to continue offering a range of programs and services that make a positive impact on the lives of First Nations youth.

What We Do

DARWIN

A local program in Darwin City offered by Blakwise Education:

A "Darwin Science Exploration" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on science experiments and field trips to local research institutions and natural attractions in the Darwin area. The program could include visits to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, the Darwin Aquaculture Centre, and the Charles Darwin University's Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods, among other locations. Through this program, students could learn about the diverse and unique flora and fauna of the region, as well as the environmental challenges facing the Northern Territory. The program could also include guest lectures from local scientists and researchers, providing students with the opportunity to learn about career pathways in science and research.

A "Darwin Food and Culture" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to learn about the diverse culinary traditions of the Northern Territory. The program could include field trips to local farms, markets, and restaurants, as well as hands-on cooking classes with local chefs. Students could learn about the ingredients and techniques used in traditional indigenous and Asian-influenced dishes, as well as the cultural significance of food in the Northern Territory. The program could also include guest lectures from local food industry professionals and food writers, providing students with the opportunity to learn about careers in the food industry. Through this program, students could gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the food and culture of the region.

NORTHERN TERRITORY

A program in the Northern Territory offered by Blakwise Education:

A "Cultural Immersion" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Northern Territory. The program could include visits to indigenous communities and cultural centers, as well as participation in traditional cultural activities such as dance, art, and storytelling. Students could also have the opportunity to learn about the history and contemporary issues facing indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. The program could also include field trips to local landmarks and natural attractions, such as Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Kakadu National Park. Through this program, students could gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diverse cultures of the Northern Territory.

A "Sustainable Living" program for high school students, in which students learn about the environmental challenges facing the Northern Territory and how to live sustainably in a desert climate. The program could include field trips to local farms and sustainability initiatives, as well as hands-on activities such as building solar panels or designing a permaculture garden. Students could also learn about renewable energy sources and how to reduce their carbon footprint. The program could also include guest lectures from local experts in sustainability and environmental science, providing students with the opportunity to learn about career pathways in these fields. Through this program, students could gain practical skills and knowledge to help them live sustainably and make a positive impact on the environment.

AUSTRALIA

An Australia-wide program offered by Blakwise Education:

An "Australian Wildlife Conservation" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to learn about the unique flora and fauna of Australia and the challenges facing conservation efforts in the country. The program could include field trips to national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and research institutions across Australia, as well as hands-on activities such as habitat restoration and wildlife monitoring. Students could also learn about the indigenous cultures and their traditional relationships with the land and its animals. The program could include guest lectures from local conservationists and researchers, providing students with the opportunity to learn about career pathways in the field. Through this program, students could gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural beauty and biodiversity of Australia, and how to protect it for future generations.

An "Australian Art and Culture" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to learn about the diverse art and cultural traditions of Australia. The program could include field trips to galleries, museums, and cultural centers across the country, as well as participation in hands-on art workshops and cultural activities. Students could learn about the history and contemporary issues facing indigenous and immigrant communities in Australia, and how these communities have contributed to the country's art and culture. The program could also include guest lectures from local artists, writers, and cultural professionals, providing students with the opportunity to learn about career pathways in these fields. Through this program, students could gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art and culture of Australia.

WORLDWIDE

A worldwide program offered by Blakwise Education:

A "Global Leadership Development" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to learn about leadership and collaboration skills, and to apply these skills in a global context. The program could include workshops and seminars on topics such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and cultural competency. Students could also have the opportunity to participate in virtual or in-person exchange programs with students from other countries, working on group projects and challenges. Through this program, students could gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the complexities of global leadership, and develop the skills and confidence to be effective leaders in their communities and beyond.

An "International Service Learning" program for high school students, in which students have the opportunity to participate in service projects in different countries around the world. The program could include trips to developing countries, where students work on projects such as building schools or clinics, providing clean water or medical care, or supporting sustainable agriculture. Students could also have the opportunity to learn about the local culture and history of the communities in which they work, and to reflect on the broader global issues that these communities face. Through this program, students could gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diverse cultures and challenges of the world, and the role that they can play in making a positive impact.
